Weeks 1–3 · Basics
Hovering, boxes and figure eights, slowly.
Four programs of 8 to 12 weeks, built on flights you make locally and footage you record.
Jerky footage comes from jerky hands. We drill slow, small inputs, combined moves like orbits and reveals, and a pre-flight routine — battery, props, compass, airspace, people — that becomes automatic before anything leaves the ground.
Hovering, boxes and figure eights, slowly.
Orbits, reveals and pull-backs.
Wind, and knowing when not to fly.
Repeating a shot three times identically.
Classes, charts and what they mean at your field.
Requests, restrictions and local rules.
The exam topics people underestimate.
Repeated until the gaps close.
We work through airspace classes, sectional charts, where authorization is needed and how to request it, plus registration and remote ID. For those going commercial, a structured study plan for the Part 107 knowledge exam — we're not a testing center and we don't issue anything.
Beautiful aerials still bore people when they're four unedited minutes of drifting. We plan shot lists with purpose, set the camera properly for light, and cut sequences with pacing — plus a straightforward color workflow that doesn't require a film degree.
Planning before flying.
Exposure, frame rate and filters.
Pacing, cuts and music.
Ninety seconds worth showing.
What's actually hired locally.
Pricing a job, including the travel and the edit.
Files, formats and expectations.
Clients who call back.
Real estate, events, roof inspections and construction progress are the common first jobs. We cover quoting, scoping, delivering files clients can use, and the checks to make before accepting work — certification, insurance and permission to fly where the job is. We're coaches, not lawyers or insurers.
